Wild Senna is a stately, shrub like perennial reaching 4 to 6 feet tall and spreading mildly via rhizomes. Featuring lush, feathery foliage and bright yellow flowers. It thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers moist soils, though its deep taproot makes it surprisingly drought tolerant once established. It is an ecological heavy-hitter; while its flowers lack nectar, they provide exceptionally high-protein pollen for bumblebees (who use "buzz pollination" to release it), and the plant serves as a primary host for cloudless sulphur and silver-spotted skipper butterflies. Because the leaves contain anthraquinones that act as a potent laxative, they are harvested and dried to create a powerful medicinal tea used for relief of constipation.
