Swamp Rose (Rosa paulustris) Chesapeake bay ecotype

A lovely wild rose native to much of the eastern U.S.

Despite the name, swamp rose is fairly adaptable to average soils but will happily be planted alongside a pond, stream, swamp or other wetlands for a high ecological value addition. It can grow to 6ish feet tall but takes well to cutting back. Its large pink perfumey flowers bloom in early to mid summer before growing medium sized rose hips in the fall.
