Roundleaf Groundsel (Packera obovata)

Roundleaf Ragwort is a stoloniferous, semi-evergreen perennial reaching 1 to 2 feet tall, recognized by its rosettes of rounded basal leaves and upright clusters of bright yellow blossoms. It thrives in Part Shade to Full Shade and is well suited to moist, rocky woodland soils, often found forming dense, weed suppressing mats in limestone glades and rich deciduous forests. In the modern landscape, its early spring nectar provide a critical energy source for specialized Mining bees in the genus Andrena, while the plant serves as a host for the specialized northern metalmark butterfly.
